Adding cells one at a time gets slow. SUM adds up a whole group of cells, called a range, at once.
A range is written as the first cell, a colon and the last cell. So B2:B5 means B2 through B5, and =SUM(B2:B5) adds them all. The AutoSum button (Σ) can write this for you.
